Embassy of the Dead

by Will Mabbitt

Jake likes to stay out of trouble, usually. But when he opens a strange box containing a severed finger, trouble comes knocking at his door. Literally. Jake has summoned a reaper to drag him to the Eternal Void (yep, it’s as deadly as it sounds) and his only option is to RUN FOR HIS LIFE!

Alone (and a tiny bit scared, to be honest), Jake makes another spooky discovery…he can see and speak to ghosts and, with the help of his deadly gang (well dead, at least) – ancient undertaker Stiffkey, hockey stick-wielding Cora, and Zorro the ghost fox – Jake has one mission: find the Embassy of the Dead and seek refuge. But the Embassy has troubles of its own and may not be the safe haven Jake is hoping for.

This book is amazing and funny if you are ever having a bad day just look at Jake’s day because you’re day is nothing compared to his day I would recommend this book to people who like fatal books I think this book is so fatal because there is a reaper trying to suck him into the eternal void

Not my kind of book. The storyline was confusing as things happened without explanation and random characters appeared. Hannah

‘Jake usually took his life for granted until he got chased through the countryside by Mawkins (a reaper)’ This book was full of exciting adventures in an unexpected way.My favourite character was Cora because she loves hockey and so do i along with lots of other sports. In this book Jake is really brave because when he met Stiffkey he wasn’t scared and when he found out he was a ghost (and met other ghosts he wasn’t the least bit out phased.) Will Mabbit has written a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed! I would recommend this book to anyone seeking… Read more »

At first I found this book a bit confusing because it did not explain want some things meant ( like being ‘undone’ ). However once it started the adventure I liked it although it was a bit creepy. My favourite character was ‘Bad Penny’ because she was helpful and if it wasn’t for her Cora would never be able to have an adventure and Zorro would never be found. I also liked the Ambassador because she was brave and decisive. I would not usually read this type of book however I have realised not to judge a book by it’s… Read more »

Jake was living a normal life but he didn’t know what was around the next corner. He was chased by Mawkins ( a reaper ). I really enjoyed this book because of all the action and it was exiting the whole way through from page 1. When i started reading this book i wasn’t sure what was going on i started to understand.
I think this challenge will make me read more

Embassy of the dead was a fun book because I like adventure stories like Embassy of the dead. this is a book where a boy called Jake finds a severed toe and summons a Grim Reeper. This book is: funny; grusome; adventures; a little scary and it was full of cliff hangers. I liked this book because you would get so interested in it and then it changes scenes. That is all ways a problem for me I would recommend this book to someone who likes a bit of a scare and a lot of adventure.
