The Everything Machine

by Ally Kennen

Eleven year old Olly has a very special delivery – a 3D printing machine, stamped with PROPERTY OF M.O.D and BRITISH SPACE AGENCY. WARNING. DO NOT TAMPER, which has magical powers…

It has a name, it speaks, and it can print ANYTHING Olly asks it to – a never-ending supply of sweets, a swimming pool in the shed – but what Olly really wants is… his dad, who has separated from his mum and moved out of the family home.

Cue the creation of Dad-Bot – he looks just like Dad (on a good day) but is totally chaotic – and his antics tip Olly and co into a heart-racing and heart-warming adventure.

I think this book is very funny as Bird, Olly and Stevie they get a magic machine named RUSSEL to print them a robot dad.My favourite part was when Mister Rob sunbathes naked on top of the multi-storey car park. I also like the bit when Mister Rob clears everything out of Stevie’s room.I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Our book club loved this book because it’s really magical, full of humour, witty and clever. Our favourite characters are piggy (when he has the chip in him and he begins to talk), Ella (because of the noises she makes), Russell because he sound fed up all of the time- probably because he’s bored and M15.5 who seem completely incompetent!!! Mrs ~Banks loves the references to Frankenstein and the rules of robots! Great book read in 2 weeks!

This book was brilliant because it was funny and made me laugh a lot. The story line was imaginative and interesting to read. It was like no other book I have read before. Overall I give this 4 and a half stars out of 5. Also it had really clear descriptions of the story plot this gave me a perfect image in my head. It had plenty of action to keep me going. This is definitely one to pick up.

I really liked it when mum gets kidnaped from the dad bot and Ollie, Stevie and Bird save her then they loose dad again and he comes out of the sea. I give this book an amazing 8 out of 10.

I really liked this book especially the part when Olly, Bird and Stevie see their real dad. I also liked it when they rescued their mam and their favourite game MAZZO.

I thought this book was good but it isn’t my most favorite ever. Olly gets a surprise delivery in the shape of a 3D printing machine. But it isn’t just any printing machine. It can print almost anything. Olly, Stevie and Bird all decide to make a dad. They call him Mister Rob. But he tries to send Mum to wales and close down Mazzo (a huge game) just to make mum happy. But then Snow and her team catch Mister Rob and take ‘im away thinking he is dad. Then they go home. I thought this book was a… Read more »

The book is very interesting and it has lots of funny parts. One of my favorite parts is when Mister Rob is sunbathing on the double story car park- the book made me laugh and it can be recommended to whoever likes adventure and funny story line in their books. The book, has great characters in it and the main 3 characters have amazing ideas and are really interesting to read. It was telling the story of the family and the story of the NASA space agents trying to get back Russel. The funniest part is when the NASA space… Read more »

I would recommend this book to anybody 7 and upwards because it can make any ages laugh. My favourite character is Stevie because he makes me paint a picture in my head of what he looks like, aswell as being very funny.

Loved this book. It’s a fantasy story though it’s still brilliant! Having the ability to print anything you want, doesn’t always get you what you want. Amy

I like this book. It was interesting when the children tried printing off a robot dad from the mysterious machine they had found. If I had to rate this book I would give it a three out of five.
