The Guggenheim Mystery

by Robin Stevens

My name is Ted Spark. Three months ago, I solved the mystery of how my cousin Salim disappeared from a pod on the London Eye. This is the story of my second mystery. This summer, I went on holiday to New York, to visit Aunt Gloria and Salim.

While I was there, a painting was stolen from the Guggenheim Museum, where Aunt Gloria works. Then Aunt Gloria was blamed for the theft, and I realised just how important it was to find the painting, and discover who really had taken it.

This is a very interesting mystery book for 9-10 year olds. It is about an art theft and the characters have to find out who committed the crime. Ethan Pugh

Very good plot twists

This book is makes me think about the world from a different angle. Life forms in patterns like the swirls in the Guggenheim ramp and the circles in Kandinsky’s painting, the black square. This book is not my favourite book but is it still extremely interesting and full wonderful ideas and story-telling. Ted is really good detective and I would never have worked out who it was… ( no spoiling the story!). Kat is determined and full of energy, she knows what she wants and will fight until she gets it; she helped considerably in the mystery. Aunt Glo and… Read more »

This is one of my favourite books so far! I have never been to New York or the Guggenheim museum however the description made me feel like I had! My favourite character was Kat because she was organised, determined and encouraging. I also liked Ted because the way he thought was very interesting and made me think of the world in a different way. I think Aunt Gloria was over-protective but she was also kind and even when she was extremely upset she was reassuring to Salim. I think the cover could be better because this looks uninteresting compared to… Read more »

this book was just perfect, there was all sorts of cunning things that the book said to make you think one thing when the thing you least expected was true.I loved ted because he thought outside the box in a way i think. Erin Scott age 11

This is a great book I love the cliff hangers at the end of each chapter which grips you to read more. I like how it sort of teaches you to be a detective. You can never guess what is going to happen next and that is what makes it so good. Grace

Because it was too descriptive, I didn’t enjoy this book as it dragged on and by the end of the first chapter I could have fell asleep ; I didn’t finish this book. I wouldn’t recommend this book to other readers. However, it would be great for children who are trying to learn to write discriptively.
