Hello and welcome to Spellbinding, Cumbria’s secondary school Book Award. Spellbinding gives hundreds of KS3 pupils each year the opportunity to read their way through ten shortlisted titles and vote for their favourite and the winner, This year once more the titles have been chosen chosen in partnership with students and librarians from our local schools all over Cumbria.
Through Spellbinding students will have the opportunity to read a wide variety of authors and genres aimed at Years 7-9, and can use this website to post comments and thoughts on the books. They can share their views with other students from all the different schools taking part, as well as voting for their favourite.
This year we are excited to launch the book award as an online event with online participation events and videos from our chosen authors, as well as competitions and much more! For the first time also, the titles will be available as e titles as well as in print.
The award runs through the Spring and Summer terms with the winner, as voted for by the students, being announced after the Summer half term.
We have had some amazing winners in the past and this year promises to be no different.
