Kid Normal

by Greg James & Chris Smith

When Murph Cooper starts a new school several weeks into the beginning of term, he can’t help but feel a bit out of his depth.

It’s not because he’s worried about where to sit, fitting in or making new friends. It’s because his mum has enrolled him at a school for superheroes by mistake. And unlike his fellow students, who can all control the weather or fly or conjure tiny horses from thin air, Murph has no special abilities whatsoever. However, just because you don’t have superpowers, it doesn’t mean you can’t save the day.

Let’s hope Murph realises that, and quick – because not far away is a great big bad guy who is half man and half wasp, and his mind is abuzz with evil plans…It’s time for Kid Normal to become a hero!

Perfect for fans of David Solomons, David Baddiel and Danny Wallace.

i really enjoyed this books humour as it made me laugh so much. Murph is a very funny character, he and his friends’ time together in this book. Especially when they all used their powers to sneak into Ribbon Robotics to get rid of Nectar.

Kid Normal is a great book from what I have read up to now. It is funny, exciting and is a fantastic book. My favorite bit is when Murph has to always give his muffin to Mr Flash when he needs it.

I love this book i found it really easy to get into,I love how instead of having the main character having super powers but the main character having no powers and the rest of them having powers,I thought it was a really special book because of its kinda moral to the story and the plot twists,I think the moral is:” Everyone is different but we’re all the same in some different way” So overall i rate this book a 9/10 😀

I liked the book when it all joined together.
The characters were really interesting, they were easy to understand and gave you a good imagination of what they did.
I would recommend it for friends and family.
Some parts were ok but others were amazing!!!

I found it boring because of all the characters and their superpowers. The superpowers weren’t that good as I would of hoped. But I liked one character who was called Murph because of him moving to all of the houses.

I really enjoyed this book, it is amazing. My favourite part was when Murph moves to his new school and has no superpowers at all and when they fight Nektar and sneak into Ribbon Robotics.

I really like this book because Murph has a good sense of humour. Murph’s speech made me laugh. 😉

We loved this book and would highly recommend this to Year 3 or 4 who might be looking at superheroes. We thought it was a nice easy read with an interesting plot. The twist of the lady superhero was a strength because there are rarely female superheroes. We loved the two sides to the story. Our favourite characters are the Blue Phantom because it was an old lady, Billy because he inflates himself (and car wheels- very useful), Nellie- her super powers are great like commanding a storm and mum because she gets her words wrong in a right way.… Read more »

Loved this book! It is awesome! This one might be my favourite out of all ten books! I would definitely recommend it, but especially to people who like long books, a bit of adventure and lots of friendship! Amy H
