The Island at the End of Everything

by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

There are some places that you would not want to go. Even if I told you that we have oceans filled with sea turtles and dolphins, or forests lush with parrots that call through air thick with warmth…

Nobody comes here because they want to.

The island of no return…

this is really a heart felt story as you can have an insight into someone’s life whose guardian has leprosy and having to get split up.

I thought that that the book was an excellent book as it wasn’t to far fetched. It showed very good character development and it shows the truth of an isolated community (not a true story).

I thought this book was really good and it was really sad when her nanay died, but it was nice how she got to see the butterflies before she died and I really liked Mari

Just about to start reading this book, it sounds so good! I really want to try to read all the books this year ( yes I’m such a geek 🙂 ) but anyway.

Hi (it is Natalie from Caldew), my favourite was ‘I have no secrets’ as well but I didn’t like ‘and then we ran’ at all, I just the ending was very anticlimactic

My favourite book was I have no secrets. But I really enjoyed the island at the end of everything.

This is an amazing book! On most reviews I’ve read it says they could not put it down, but I actually couldn’t. It was like it was glued to my hands, and this is possibly one of the best books I have ever read. A lovely message and I think I would MOST DEFINATELY RECCOMEND IT!!! READ THIS BOOK!!

One of there’s books I have ever read which is something as I am really picky when it comes to books so this was a surprise.

I thought that this book was amazing! Plot and character development were detailed, the book painted a very good picture about what life was like on a disease colony. Disease colonies were very common in the early 20th century and were brutal for the people living on the colonies.

I found this story to be really interesting, and enjoyed the insight into a person’s life who was different to my own. I loved it when she was able to say goodbye to her nanay, and I loved it when everything turned out all right for her at the end, and she found her nanay’s old butterfly house. I also loved how, 30 years later, she was able to reunite with her old friends, but I wish I could’ve found out what happened to Mari in the thirty year gap.

I hate this book but please don’t hate on me because i can only read adventure stories and this book doesn’t cut it for me. The plot was new and original, but as i said before, not my genre of choice.
