The Dragon With a Chocolate Heart

by Stephanie Burgis

Aventurine is the fiercest, bravest kind of dragon, and she’s ready to prove it to her family by leaving the safety of their mountain cave and capturing the most dangerous prey of all: a human. But when the human she captures, tricks her into drinking enchanted hot chocolate, she finds herself transformed into a puny human girl with tiny blunt teeth, no fire, and not one single claw.

She’s still the fiercest creature in these mountains though – and now she’s found her true passion: chocolate! All she has to do is walk on two feet to the human city, find herself an apprenticeship (whatever that is) in a chocolate house (which sounds delicious), and she’ll be conquering new territory in no time.

I really enjoyed this book especially the part when the food mage tricks Aventurine into having the hot chocolate that turned her from a dragon into a human. I also liked the part where Greta and her husband find Aventurine walking along the mountains and take her home in there carriage.

I think this book is written in a very chatty way. This is definitely not one of my favourites so far, however I would read it again and I would recommend it. I would also definitely want to have a taste of that famous hot chocolate and if I had a chocolate heart I wouldn’t have heart for long! My favourite part is where the main character says, “Whoa.” She is a lot taller than I could have imagined and then the princess hears him. Read it and find out what happens!

I really liked it and would recommend to family and friends because it is very funny but very formal. I liked the part when Adventurine has to lie to the royals about how she can stop the dragons. Another part I liked is the part when she finds out that it was a trick that Greta was making her work for free.

I really enjoyed this book , I would say that it is the most adventurous book I have ever read . I also like the way it doesn’t have too much description but when it needs description there is description . I like the way she describes the chocolate it makes your mouth water , I think it would have been better if they had cut the last chapter off because it was just a rephrase of what she had all ready said but in a bit more detail. I would rate it 9 out of 10. LK

I really enjoyed the part where Aventurine was in the cave and imagining that she was a human and she remembered what her grandfather said “It’s safer not to talk to your food.”

The dragon with the chocolate heart was a little bit boring but I enjoyed some of it. for example when she comes face to face with her family again after they were looking for her, she had great courage to go up to the clock tower with Princess Sofia to tell them that she was Aventurine and that she liked it and she had found her passion which was chocolate. She made all her family eat it and they loved it just like she did that is why I like this part because it makes me smile. If I saw… Read more »

I really like this book because it is so exciting at times. Its exciting at times because things just keep on happening in the the book like when the dragon got tricked to drinking enchanted chocolate and it also becomes a human because of that.I have 2 favorite parts number 1 is where they went and saw the chocolate houses and number 2 is when the dragon turned into a human.

I found this book uninteresting. I was disappointed because the story line was just about a girl wanting a chocolate house .I would not recommend this book to anyone .

I really liked the simple and flow-y feeling of this story and how it was just about a girl wanting to work as a chocolatier (in short) but was written so well and also very interesting to read .My favourite part is when Aventurine meets Silke in the market. 🙂 I would rate it 9/10

I don’t like the book because it is really boring and I got lost in the middle of the book. I would recommend it to some of my friends but not a lot. My favourite part was when, the Royal family meet the people In the shop and the kid hated it so they left and people flooded the shop to really see if the hot chocolate was good, but some people hated it and never went back. I rate it 3 / 10.

I really liked this book and I would definitely recommend it to people who liked magic-orientated books. The overall plot of it was very good, and I feel it wasn’t a common storyline. I think that the characters had interesting personalities compared to other books I have read and I loved them!
